Revolution themes are really pioneer in introducing magazine CMS style to Wordpress and Brian Gardner was the first to do this and now he is announcing that he is planning to make them Opensource from 1st November 2008.

This is a big news for those who really like the themes but could not afford to buy them but now still the big issue is Configuration. In my opinion, A newbie cant use and can’t configure the revolution, so then need support from Revolution theme support.

Describing why he is moving toward Open source, Brain said:

This one is really simple - more than anything, Jason and I want to develop a resource and community that is perfectly aligned with WordPress. Both he and I have been fortunate enough to leave our day jobs within the past year and have developed our own media companies. None of that would have been possible without the existence of WordPress, which is solely built and supported by the open source community.

So Baian wans to return something to Wp community and this is very gentle move toward a free opensource wordpress. After this big step, I wonder who will buy premium themes such as thesis or arthemia and many other like that…
